The full biography of Pimp C: Julia Beverly's 700-plus-page book, built from more than 250 interviews over five years.

Sweet Jones: Pimp C's Trill Life Story is the biography of Chad Butler, the UGK producer and rapper who worked as Pimp C. Its author, Julia Beverly, ran the Southern rap magazine Ozone before founding a booking agency. Amazon lists the paperback as published by Shreveport Ave Inc on July 28, 2015, at 726 pages (ISBN 9780692461273). The title plays on Sweet James Jones, a name Pimp C recorded under.

Jezebel, profiling Beverly on the book's release, reported that she spent five years on it, did more than 250 interviews and cut it down from a 1,200-page draft. She credited Pimp C's mother, who managed UGK, for remembering details from fifteen to twenty years earlier. Beverly said she had thought of calling it The Six Degrees of Pimp C because "everybody is really connected to him."

For this archive it is the best single source on how the pimp persona worked in Southern rap: a name and a posture, carried by a man whose documented life was in music. It sits beside the "Big Pimpin'" record and the player's card Pimp C received from Bishop Don Magic Juan and Pimpin' Ken.
