Juice Lee

San Diego label owner whose 'Pimp Hop' genre claim rests on his own press releases, a 2021 EP and Players Ball documentaries.

Juice Lee is a San Diego rapper and the chief executive of Juice Division Records LLC, an independent label and distributor whose public record consists almost entirely of its own press releases on PR Newswire, its streaming catalog, and a series of low-budget documentaries about the Players Ball circuit. He promotes a genre label he calls "Pimp Hop," also styled "304 music," and claims to have coined it. This record sets out what the label has published under its own name and marks the rest as unverified.

The label's earliest press release, datelined San Diego on 28 May 2021, announced two previously unreleased Nipsey Hussle tracks, "Hussle Music" and "Blue Dreams," said to have been recorded mainly in San Diego, and stated that Lee had first worked with Hussle in late 2008. On 16 July 2021 Juice Lee released a seven-track EP titled Pimp Hop; its fourth track, also "Pimp Hop," features TB Da Hilfigga and West West and is listed on Spotify. In 2022 he appeared as the first-billed cast member of Pimpville U.S.A: The Official Players Ball 2022, a 51-minute documentary directed by Pharoh Media and streamed on Tubi, alongside Bishop Don Magic Juan, Kenny Red, Philthy Rich, Mistah F.A.B. and Afroman; the film's own description calls the ball "the annual pimp and 304 event."

On 13 June 2024 the label announced Toe Music, Vol. 1, the first EP of a planned trilogy, describing Lee as a creator of pimp-themed films distributed on Tubi through his production company Pimpville USA, and defining Pimp Hop as a style sitting between drill and trap. A release of 21 June 2024 announced a publishing agreement with Too Lost Publishing, a BMG-affiliated company, and exclusive distribution through Bungalo/Universal Music Group. On 29 August 2025 a release headlined "Forget Trap, Drill, or Emo — This Is the Genre Taking Over" stated that Lee "coined" Pimp Hop, credited the genre with "billions" of streams, named Larry June, Lucky Da P, Sauce Walka, Yung X, Mac Roosta and Sietegang Yabbie as its current artists and Suga Free, Too $hort and Pimp C as its pioneers, and promoted a second documentary, Pimpville USA 2: Pimp Hop, and a single, "Done A Lot," with Big Sad 1900. A May 2026 release for the Bay Area rapper ALLBLACK describes Juice Division Distro as one of the few Black-owned national independent distributors and lists Lee as a featured artist.

What this adds up to is a documented business and catalog and an undocumented set of claims. The releases, the EP, the film credit and the deals are matters of public listing. The assertion that Lee originated a genre, the streaming totals, the 2025 "independent filmmaker of the year" award, and the placing of Sauce Walka or Larry June under his label's banner appear only in the label's own copy; none of the named artists has publicly endorsed the term, and no music outlet with a named author has profiled Lee. His legal name is not published. The persona is the pimp; the record shows a label owner and film producer working the Players Ball circuit.

NOT ESTABLISHED

  • That Juice Lee coined "Pimp Hop" or "304 music": appears only in his label's press releases; the term predates 2021 as a casual descriptor and no artist he names has adopted it publicly.
  • "Billions" of streams for the genre and a 2025 "independent filmmaker of the year" award: self-reported, no independent confirmation.
  • The 2008 collaboration with Nipsey Hussle and the provenance of the 2021 tracks: label's account only.
  • Legal name, age and biography: not published by any reputable outlet.
  • Persona versus biography: the pimp framing is a marketing register; no source documents Lee as a pimp.
