Kossisko Konan grew up in Berkeley and spent part of his adolescence at boarding school in Ivory Coast. He began releasing music around 2010 as 100s, and his 2012 mixtape Ice Cold Perm made him the center of a brief critical conversation about whether pimp rap was returning as a self-aware form.

The framing was explicit in the press. VICE declared in 2012 that pimp rap had a new prince and situated the style within blaxploitation cinema and pimp literature. SPIN read the record as portraying the pimp as an absurd outsider, arguing that it complicated the regressive material it drew on rather than simply reproducing it. Reviewers also noted its deliberate sourcing: the Coup's 1993 anti-perm record as a conceptual precedent, cover art nodding to Snoop Dogg, samples lifted from Black film comedies rather than from crime records.

He signed to Fool's Gold in June 2013 and issued the EP IVRY in 2014. In early 2015 he retired the 100s name and persona entirely, recording since as Kossisko in an R&B and soul register. His file is the collection's only documented case of an artist publicly putting the iconography down.
