Minister Seamore

A Chicago pimp turned self-described minister: in the cast of Maroy's Cross Country Pimping, and later interviewed twice by Soft White Underbelly.

Minister Seamore first appears on film in Cross Country Pimping, Michael Maroy's Too Real For TV documentary; the film's Amazon DVD listing names him in its cast beside Pimpin' Ken and Bishop Don Magic Juan. He reached a wider audience through Mark Laita's Soft White Underbelly interview project. The project's own listing describes the first interview, which runs about 27 minutes, as a portrait of "a pimp from Chicago." A later follow-up was published as "Ex Pimp: Minister Seamore," and IMDb, which catalogues the channel's videos as episodes, lists it as a 2022 episode.

The change in title between the two interviews, from pimp to ex-pimp and minister, is the arc of his story as he tells it. As with other subjects of the channel, what he says about his past, his earnings and his turn to ministry is self-description given to a camera, and none of it has been independently corroborated.

He belongs to a pattern this archive tracks across generations: men who leave the life and recast themselves as preachers or teachers, from Bishop Don Magic Juan, whose 1994 autobiography is From Pimp Stick to Pulpit, to Gorgeous Dre.
