Down South Players is a Too Real for TV documentary by Michael Maroy. Hood Box Office, which now carries it, describes it in one line: "Too Real for TV heads south to the players of the Southern game." Maroy listed it among his own films in an interview with the filmmaking site Desktop Documentaries, and a retail DVD listing recorded in this archive's Maroy entry sells it as "A Film By MAROY."

Like his other titles it is interview footage, a single camera and long answers with little narration, recording how men who call themselves players describe their lives. It does not test those accounts, and the women around them are not given an equivalent voice.
