Black Heff

A Dallas-based pimp persona, also the rapper and author Jakafella, profiled by Soft White Underbelly in 2020 and self-published since 2014.

The Black Heff, also known as Jakafella, is a self-described pimp, rapper and self-published author whom Mark Laita's Soft White Underbelly profiled in "Pimp interview-Black Heff," a 33-minute piece the channel catalogues as an "interview and portrait of pimp, Black Heff from Dallas, Texas." Television databases list the episode as 2020 under the title "Pimp: Black Heff aka Jakafella." Unlike most of the channel's pimp subjects he had a public footprint before the interview. In April 2015 he appeared on the Somewhere in Vegas internet radio show as "musician and author The Black Heff aka Jakafella," promoting a book, Game Is Meant To Be Sold, described as his journey from poverty in Flint, Michigan to wealth, and explaining that the moniker was inspired by Hugh Hefner. A Kindle title, The Black Heffionary: Cooler Than Me Manual to the Streets and Life, is listed under the name Jakafella, and he has released music and a DVD, The Black Heff Show. Later podcast appearances, including the No Cap Podcast, present him talking about Flint's drug economy.

His claims about pimping, money and the women he says he has managed are his own; no court record, press report or other independent document was found. Wikipedia's Players Ball article lists "The Black Heff" among attendees of a 2011 Memphis Players Ball with Bishop Don Magic Juan and Good Game, without citation, so that appearance is noted rather than relied on. The archive treats him as a persona whose catalogue is real and whose biography is unverified.
